Computer repair service expands business

After providing on-site computer repair services for the past two years, James Smith recently opened Smith Systems, a shop dedicated to providing computer and technology repair services.

Smith said he began advertising his computer services locally, and that exposure, combined with reviews from customers, has led to substantial growth in customers and service calls. Smith said the increase in work led him to decide he “needed to open up a shop.”

Smith Systems, he said, offers computer services to individuals and businesses in Tiffin and surrounding communities. Those services include virus removal, custom configurations, data recovery, system tune-up, restore, and recovery services, email and printer set-up, diagnostics and the repair of cell phones, iPods and iPads.

Smith said he is trained to service all makes and models of computers, and also is beginning to sell computer parts, striving to offer the lowest price on hard-to-find computer equipment.

Smith said he graduated from ITT Tech in 2009, and moved to Tiffin when he met his wife. Pursuing a computer technology business in Tiffin, he said, “has been a great success.” He said he enjoys the “community feel” of the area and the friendly small-town atmosphere.

He said he has a 100-percent focus on customer service, and seeks to educate his customers, in addition to solving their technical concerns.

The shop, located at 193 South Washington St., Tiffin, is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Smith said he usually makes service calls 6-9 p.m., unless a customer has an emergency.

Smith said his turnaround time typically is one-three business days, and his prices are “pretty competitive.”

Smith said Spencer Williams, a friend who is trained in computer repair services, also will be working at Smith Systems, and his wife, Emily Bisignano, will be helping to manage the store and office.
