Co-ops approve merger

FINDLAY – Blanchard Valley Farmers Cooperative and Deshler Farmers Elevator Co. announced stockholders Tuesday approved a merger of the two agricultural cooperatives, according to Blanchard Valley Farmers Cooperative General Manager Jerry Silveus.

The cooperatives plan to determine how to best merge their operations to leverage their respective strengths, with an effective date of March 1, 2014, for official operations to commence as Legacy Farmers Cooperative. The company is to operate under the direction of a combined 15-person board of directors plus new President and CEO Mark Sunderman, currently CEO and president of Deshler Farmers Elevator, with Mike Tobe as vice president and agronomy manager.
