Two from area among volunteers honored

Two area volunteers were among 20 honorees from 13 parishes as the Toledo Diocesan Council of Catholic Women conducted its 20th annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon April 9 at Camden Falls in Tiffin.

The Altar Rosary Society of each parish selected a volunteer of the year to be honored. Council President Tamy Franz and President-elect Judy Warntz presented the awards.

A member of All Saints in New Riegel for more than 30 years, Elaine Borer was recognized for serving her parish as past secretary of the Rosary Altar Society, religious education teacher, festival worker and parish nurse. She also is active in New Riegel Right to Life and coordinates the New Riegel community garage sales.

Marguerite Bernard of Tiffin St. Mary has been active in the parish for more than 50 years. She is a lector, eucharistic minister, festival worker and the legislative chairwoman for the Altar Rosary Society. A member of Serra Club and Calvert Alumni Association, Bernard is an election board officer, Kiwanis Club member and serves in numerous community groups.
