Controlled deer, waterfowl hunt applications due July 31
COLUMBUS – Applications are being accepted for controlled deer and waterfowl hunts on selected Ohio public areas during the 2014-15 season, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Hunters have until July 31 to submit permit applications for a random drawing.
Applicants, youth and adult, must possess a 2014-2015 Ohio hunting license and meet the age requirements in order to apply for a controlled hunt.
Hunters can complete an application online using the Wild Ohio Customer Center at wildohio.gov or call (800) WILDLIFE (945-3543) to request a mail-in application. There is a non-refundable application fee of $3 per hunt.
Hunters randomly are drawn from submitted applications and those chosen would be notified and provided with additional information.
More specific information about hunt dates and locations, including opportunities dedicated to youth, women and mobility-impaired hunters, can be found at wildohio.gov.
ODNR to award NatureWorks grants for park projects
COLUMBUS – Ohio Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for grant funding assistance for local park projects through the state NatureWorks Grant Program. Before the end of this year, ODNR is to award $3.9 million to local communities to assist in providing Ohioans with enhanced outdoor opportunities.
Ohio General Assembly recently allocated nearly $8 million to the NatureWorks Program for the next two fiscal years. ODNR is offering half of these funds for local park projects; awarded projects can be started as early as spring 2015.
NatureWorks funding is available for cities, villages, counties, townships, park districts and conservancy districts interested in securing funds to assist with local park projects.
Applicants and project scopes must meet the eligibility requirements under the NatureWorks Program, and all applications for the NatureWorks grant program must be postmarked by Sept. 1.
Application can be found at ohiodnr.gov/realestate.
Ohio Parks and Natural Resources Fund was passed by voters Nov. 3, 1993. Additional legislation authorized the creation of the NatureWorks program. This is the 21st round for NatureWorks grants.
