TU students organize hurricane relief effort
Students and the campus community of Tiffin University again are asking for help collecting items for those affected by Hurricane Florence.
Juniors Kaitlyn Borer and Emily Boersen are coordinating the effort at TU. This is similar to that of last years’ efforts to help with Hurricane Harvey efforts.
“Students stopped in and again wanted to do something to help,” said Mike Herdlick, dean of students.
Students and faculty members are to take the items to those in need in North Carolina and South Carolina around Thanksgiving weekend.
“This is a chance to bring joy and happiness,” Borer said.
This is in the school’s DNA, Herdlick said.
“This goes with our Guiding Principles and ICARE values,” Herdlick said. “We do our best to take care of our family here and also take the time to share with those in need outside of our family.”
Items are to be collected until Nov. 20 in the Gillmor Student Center. Items being collected include pet food and supplies, non-perishable food and toiletries.
T-shirts also going to be sold for $10 in sizes small to extra-large. The last day to purchase shirts is Monday.
