Parenting classes booked

PatchWorks House in Tiffin is offering free parenting classes at its office at 42 Madison St.

“Protecting Your Child’s Health with Shots” is set for 11 a.m. Thursday. The Seneca County General Health District provides this class about vaccines.

“Let’s Talk” is to run 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 26 This class explores communication styles and skills for parenting and building relationships.

“Working Together After Divorce (or If You Were Never Married)” runs 10:30 a.m.-noon Aug. 29. This co-parenting class is for those who have children together but are not a couple. Topics include minimizing conflict, communication methods, family meetings, emotional disengagement, parenting plan development and roles of the resident and non-resident parent. The goal is to help parents establish a cooperative, child-focused relationship.

Italian meals to be served

Tiffin Knights of Columbus is to serve an Italian spaghetti and meatball dinner 5-7:30 p.m. Friday. The cost is $7.

Museum program

focuses on WWII foods

UPPER SANDUSKY – The Wyandot County Musuem is to host “Thursday at the Museum” at 7 p.m. Thursday at 130 S. Seventh St., Upper Sandusky. The program for this week is “World War II Foods of Wyandot County.”

Vehicle show coming to NR

Tiffin American Legion Riders Post 169 and New Riegel American Legion Post 354 have planned a Classic Car and Bike Show for 1-7 p.m. Saturday at the New Riegel post, 20 E. South St., New Riegel.

Food, raffles and music by Mosquito Creek Band and DJ Larry are to be offered.

Registration is $5. Half the proceeds are to be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Church to stage barbecue

BASCOM – Sts. Patrick and Andrew Catholic Church is to host its 18th annual chicken barbecue and ham dinner 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick Hall, 6250 W. Tiffin St., Bascom.

The dinner is to include chicken or ham, potatoes, applesauce, green beans, rolls and butter along with dessert and drink. The price of a half-chicken or whole slice of ham dinner is $8 and a quarter-chicken or half-slice of ham dinner is $5.

Series continues with herbs

FOSTORIA – The Women’s Enrichment Series continues this month 6-7:30 p.m. on Mondays at First Step, Fostoria.

The program for Monday is “A Slice of Life.” Participants can learn how to grow, harvest and dry herbs such as basil, parsley, oregano, sage, fennel seed and red pepper. In addition to adding flavor to foods, these spices also have health benefits.

TAG offers painting class

Tiffin Art Guild is taking registration for an acrylic painting class with instructor Jon Adams. The classes are to begin Sept. 3 and continue 6-9 p.m. Sept. 10, 17 and 24 at TAG, 178 S. Washington St.

Up to 15 students can enroll to paint a seascape. The cost is $40 for members and $50 for non-members, plus $5 for canvas and paint. All paint colors will be mixed and provided in advance. TAG also will provide acrylic brushes.

Participants who bring their own brushes should not bring oil paint brushes or oil paint materials.
