Restored Tin Goose returning to region
PORT CLINTON – Experimental Aircraft Association Tin Goose Chapter 1247 has arranged to bring a restored, flying Ford Tri-Motor back to the region today through Sunday to offer rides to the public.
The event is at the Liberty Aviation complex, 3515 E. State Road, Port Clinton.
The Ford Tri-Motor, nicknamed the Tin Goose, was built by the Ford Motor Co., which constructed 199 of these aircraft between 1926 and 1933. Chapter 1247 members and volunteers are rebuilding one of these historic aircraft and have been at work on the project for nearly 10 years.
“This event is a great opportunity for people to see and experience a true piece of living history,” said Lisa Benjamin, Chapter 1247 president. “We know from past experience that everyone who takes one of these flights gets off the airplane with a big smile on their face.”
Adult tickets purchased in advance are $70. Walk-in tickets will be $50 for children and $75 for adults.
Advance tickets are available at www.flytheford.org or by calling (877) 952-5395.
