Peace vigil returning downtown
The Quad County Coalition is to have its Second Friday peace vigil at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Courthouse Square in Tiffin.
Seats available at free seminar
A free gambling prevention seminar is being offered 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday in the Great Hall at Heidelberg University.
The workshop is to feature speakers from Hollywood Casino, Ohio Casino Control Commission, Thistledown Racino and Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services. Participants receive a free lunch and a T-shirt.

Rib-off fundraiser coming to Fostoria
FOSTORIA – The Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Bureau and the city of Fostoria are presenting the inaugural Smokin’ Pig Rib Off fundraiser 5-10 p.m. Friday in the Park & Shop parking lot on South Main Street in Fostoria.
A beer tent is to be set up with entertainment by J.D. Jams Music Service. Contestants include Wiseguys Redneck BBQ, Hawg Sauce BBQ, Bogby’s Smokin BBQ, Buckeye Smokin BBQ and Great Scot Community Market.
Only the ribs will be voted on, but beef and chicken also are to be available.
Lions to conduct White Cane Days
Members of the Tiffin Lions Club are to be posted at local businesses in Tiffin on Friday and Saturday to raise funds as part of the annual White Cane Days. Funds donated are to be used to address vision-related needs in the community.
This year, funds were used to pay office fees for long-term vision therapy for a second-grade student. An iPod and communication unit were purchased for a Noble School student.

Father’s Day bake sale on tap
CAREY- The Our Lady of Consolation National Shrine volunteer bakery, under the direction of Father Paul Faroh, is to conduct a Father’s Day weekend bake sale 4-7 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday.
Featuring fresh rhubarb, strawberry-rhubarb and strawberry-cherry pies, the sale is to take place in the OLC information booth across from the basilica. An assortment of other pies, pizzas, bread, sweet rolls, doughnuts, noodles and cookies also are to be for sale.
All proceeds will go toward the OLC proposed elevator project.
VFW barbecue Sunday
GREEN SPRINGS – VFW Post 6067 is sponsoring a chicken barbecue at 11 a.m. Sunday in Green Springs Park.
The cost is $8 per meal.
Lavender topic of First Step forum

St. Francis offers Parkinson’s seminar
St. Francis Senior Ministries is to host a “Big & Loud” educational seminar at 2 p.m. June 25 in the multipurpose room at St. Francis Home, 182 St. Francis Ave.
“Big & Loud” is a program for those with Parkinson’s Disease, in which participants learn to exaggerate their movement and speech. The St. Francis therapy team will be presenting the program and participants will also be able to tour the new therapy area at St. Francis.

Sponsors needed for golf outing
Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment is to have its annual golf outing July 13 at Loudon Meadows Golf Course in Fostoria. In addition to golf, there will be door prizes, raffles and a silent auction.
All money raised is to be used to help Seneca County residents who are dealing with cancer-related challenges.
Through June 30, FACT is looking for sponsorships in the form of monetary donations or prize items.
