Hospice training offered

Community Hospice Care is to start its fall Volunteer Training Classes Sept. 17.

Classes are to continue Sept. 17, 19, 24, 26, and Oct. 3, 10 and 17. These classes are to meet 1:30-4 p.m. in the Community Hospice Care office.

The agency is looking for volunteers in the Tiffin, Attica, Fostoria and Willard areas who can assist with patient care, death vigil volunteers, fundraising, office duties, courier (running errands for the office), volunteer beauticians and pet therapy.

Pick up bread, bagels

FOSTORIA – First Step Healthy Family Resource Center, 1099 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, is to have another “Bread and Bagels Day” 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday.

Red Cross bingo slated

Basket Bingo is returning to the Tiffin Mall Bingo Hall for two sessions Saturday. Players can buy a $60 package for both sessions or $35 for a single session.

Doors are to open at 8:30 a.m. for the 11 a.m. bingo. The second group begins at 3 p.m.

Peterboro baskets and larger-than-usual cash jackpots are to be awarded throughout the day, along with balloon prizes. A raffle for electronics and appliances also is to take place.

All proceeds are used to support the local American Red Cross chapter.

Kids’ class getting native

A Kids’ Art Class is being offered 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Tiffin Art Guild Gallery, 178 S. Washington St.

This free event is aimed at children ages 5-10. Register by calling (419) 443-0478 during the hours of 1-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday or sign-up at the front counter in the gallery

Participants will create an Indian tent and feathered headband.

Bike run in the works

UPPER SANDUSKY – The third annual “Ride for the Red” is slated for 10 a.m. Saturday to benefit the American Red Cross of Seneca and Wyandot counties. The bikes are to gather at Thiel’s Wheels in Upper Sandusky and follow a 100-mile route through both counties.

The riders are to return to Thiel’s for a picnic lunch, games, a 50/50 drawing and live music by Diesel.

Registration is $15 for one rider or $20 for two. Non-riders can attend the picnic and party for $5 each.

Group to christen homes

Seneca Habitat for Humanity is inviting the community to two home dedications at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The homes being dedicated are Crystal Smith’s at 246 Third Ave., and Challie Briihl’s at 252 Third Ave. The families are to have an open house at each dwelling.

OSU tickets to be raffled

FOSTORIA – The Fostoria Area Historical Society is raffling two tickets for the Ohio State-Penn State football game Oct. 26 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

Two other prizes include a 1958 Rose Bowl program (Ohio State vs. Oregon) and a DVD, “The History of Fostoria Vol. 1.”

The drawing is set for Oct. 5, and the winners need not be present to claim their prizes.

Tickets are $3 or two for $5. They are available from members of the historical society board, at the Fostoria Area Historical Museum 1-4 p.m. Saturdays and at Quality Printing on Center Street.
