Church offering chicken dinners
REPUBLIC – St. Aloysius Catholic Church is to serve a chicken barbeque at 11 a.m. Sunday at Republic Town Hall.
Drive-through carry-outs are to be available.
Cost is $9 per meal or $5 per half-meal.
‘Look Good’ class planned at Mercy
The American Cancer Society is offering “Look Good, Feel Better” for women active in cancer treatment. Participants are to receive a make-up kit and instruction to combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation and chemotherapy.
The class is set for 2-4 p.m. May 13 in the Mercy Tiffin Cancer Center B, 40 Fair Lane.
The class is free but registration is required by calling (800) 227-2345.
Memorial parade back in Bascom
BASCOM – The Bascom Lions Club is gearing for its 48th annual Memorial Parade at 2 p.m. June 2. A chicken and pork chop barbecue is planned 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park’s evergreen shelter. At 1:15 p.m., Sandridge Cemetery is the venue for memorial services.

Airman Nathan E. Smith Memorial 5k Run/Walk and 1k Kids’ Run is set for June 8, starting at Tiffin Eagles, 68 Riverside Drive. The course winds along the Sandusky River and through local neighborhoods. No pets are allowed.
Registration is 8 a.m.-8:45 a.m. The kids’ run for ages 11 and younger is at 8:15 with the 5k at 9. Entry fees are $15 if received by May 31 and $20 on race day. The kids’ run is $9 per entry.
This race is a fundraiser for Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment. Checks can be made payable to Nathan Smith Memorial Fund, 3240 E. CR 50, Tiffin, OH 44883.

The Berry Run steps off at 4 p.m. June 15 at Bloomville United Church of Christ, 31 N. Marion St., Bloomville. The 10k run/walk is $15 by May 27 and $20 on race day. The 5k run/walk is $12 in advance and $15 on race day.
The Berry Run is in conjunction with the church’s annual strawberry festival. Other activities include children’s games, raffles, entertainment and homemade food, with many berry desserts.

Foundation to host garage sale
OLD FORT – The Paul M. and Lucy J. Gillmor Charitable Foundation is to host a garage sale 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. June 14 and 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. June 15 at Old Fort High School.
So far, the foundation has collected furniture, appliances, collectibles, decorations, housewares, books, glassware, clothing, infant items, electronics and sporting goods, including several bicycles.
Proceeds are to be used to help the needy in surrounding counties and entities that support the well-being of the local community.
