Citizen of year wanted

The American Red Cross of Fostoria and Seneca County is to host a Citizen of the Year Award to recognize outstanding community leaders in Fostoria, Tiffin and Seneca County. This event replaces the Everyday Heroes Awards, according to a David Conley, director of the local Red Cross chapter.

The awards are to be presented at a luncheon 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. April 26 at North Central Ohio Educational Service Center, 928 W. Market St. All are invited to attend. The two award recipients are to be honored based on volunteer service, organizational leadership and community presence.

Keynote speaker is Francis Dove Edwin, president of the Sierra Leone Olympian Association and senior visiting lecturer at Tiffin University.

Proceeds from the luncheon are to benefit the local Red Cross.

Bingo bash booked

Another special event is planned at the Tiffin Mall bingo hall to benefit the American Red Cross of Seneca County and Pantry Plus of Seneca County. The Big Cash Bingo Bash is set for April 7.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with early-bird games starting at 2 p.m. Participants will not be able to save seats.

The six early-birds pay $50 per game, with one special coverall paying $300; some of the regular games will pay $100; the winners of four merchandise games will take home a new TV, computer, barbeque grill or a large Ohio State gift basket. The lucky number that day will pay $1,000.
