Learn about Fort Ferree
SYCAMORE – To commemorate the anniversary of the War of 1812, local historian Tom Hill is to give a program on the “History of Fort Ferree” at 7 p.m. Thursday in the narthex of Sycamore United Methodist Church.
The War of 1812 between the United States and Great Britain was waged from June 1812 until the spring of 1815. Control of Lake Erie and its adjoining rivers was crucial to both sides. In order to secure and control the border area, the United States built a chain of small forts, including Fort Ferree in Upper Sandusky.
