Businesses plan ‘girls’ night out’ to benefit area foster families

Three local businesses are sponsoring a “girls’ night out” event benefiting area foster families Dec. 1.

Simply Susan’s, Julie’s Jubilee Salon and Melissa Perry Photography are to present a fashion show at 7 p.m. at The Renaissance of Tiffin, 129 S. Washington St.

The fashion show is to include 10 models who are to present wearable winter fashion from Simply Susan’s shop. The models also are to have make-up and hair done by stylists from Julie’s Jubilee Salon and have their photos taken by Melissa Perry Photography.

“We have had fashion shows in the past, but wanted to have a bigger one and as a way to give back,” said Susan Wilkins of Simply Susan’s.

According to Wilkins, the show is to feature fashion for ages from teens to grandmas. There will be everything from sequin dresses to ponchos, she said.

Julie Webb of Julie’s Jubilee Salon said she has clients who are foster parents and has seen all they do for their families.

“They have the biggest hearts I know,” Webb said.

Wilkins said it is a good night to invest in the community and hang out with family and friends.

“Many are fortunate, but it is important to realize many are not,” she said. “This is a time to just come and take a break from life and all is going to a good cause.”

In addition to the show, raffles and refreshments are to be provided. Many local businesses have donated baskets to be raffled off. A cash bar also is to be available. Businesses that wish to make a basket or monetary donation still may do so, Webb said.

The cost is $20 per ticket and all proceeds go to area foster families for Christmas.
