Local artists to grace Ritz stage for Friday Night Live

The Ritz Theatre, 30 S. Washington St., is to present Friday Night Live at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Tickets are $10.

Musicians to be featured include OCMEA Vocal Ensemble, Timber Run and Jim Gill.

Terra Percussion Ensemble to perform Friday evening

FREMONT – The Terra Community College Percussion Ensemble is to perform “Rock, Rhythm and Rolls” at 7 p.m. Friday in the Recital Hall of the Bordner Arts and Technologies Center on the Terra State campus.

Under the direction of Mike Czeczele, the concert is to consist of different types of music including jazz, contemporary, classical and world percussion pieces.

Upper Sandusky to present high school choral concert with guest groups Saturday

UPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky High School is to present “Jazz in the Fall,” its choral concert, at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The jazz choir Upper Class is to perform along with guest groups Hardin Northern’s Awakened Commotion and Tiffin University’s Up in the Air.

Tickets cost $7 and include refreshments.

Hayes Train Special to roll at HPLM beginning Nov. 24

FREMONT — The Hayes Train Special model train display is to open Nov. 24 at Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.

A holiday tradition at HPLM since 1994, the display winds through a holiday winter wonderland that recalls the days of President Rutherford B. Hayes.

Admission to the train special is included in the price of a regular museum ticket. Members are admitted free.

Yard decoration contest set to begin in Fostoria

Applications for the Fostoria Community Arts Council’s “Light Up Fostoria for the Holiday” contest are available.

Decorate your yard with your favorite holiday decorations. Winners are to receive $100 for first place, $25 for second place and $25 for People’s Choice.

Deadline is 5 p.m. Dec. 1, with judging to be at 6 p.m. Dec. 5.

The entry fee is $10. Forms can be picked up at the Fostoria Chamber of Commerce, The Review Times and Payne Brothers Florist.

Guided bus tours of selected homes are to be available for $2 and take place 5-8 p.m. Dec. 8-9.

TU to present holiday concert Dec. 1 at The Ritz

Tiffin University is to present its annual holiday concert, “Christmas at The Ritz,” at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at The Ritz Theatre, 30 S. Washington St.

The concert is to feature holiday selections in a variety of styles, including large performance ensembles, the University Choir, Concert Band, TU Gospel Choir, Pop Choir, Bib Band and the Dance Team.

Each is to be joined by small ensembles, DFX, a cappella groups Up in the Air and Higher Ground, New Orleans-style band Word On The Street, TU’s songwriting collective, hip-hop groups New HhITEs and the 75-voice TU Kids Choir.

Reserved-seating tickets cost $10, and $5 for TU students and children younger than 10.

‘Nutcracker’ coming to Sandusky theater Dec. 2

SANDUSKY — Sandusky State Theatre is to present the “Nutcracker Ballet” at 7 p.m. Dec. 2, featuring the Ballet Theatre of Toledo.

Tickets are $15-$35 for adults, $10-$30 for seniors and $10-$25 for children younger than 12.

The ballet is based on the story “The Nutcracker and the King of Mice” by E.T.A. Hoffman and is the story of a young German girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against a mouse king.

Barbershop chorus to perform ‘Sounds of the Season’ Dec. 16 in BG

BOWLING GREEN — The Voices of Harmony Barbershop Chorus is to present its concert, “Sounds of the Season,” at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at First Presbyterian Church, 126 S. Church St., Bowling Green.

The chorus is to perform religious and secular holiday music.

Admission is one canned good, to benefit the Madrigal Singers’ canned food drive.

Enjoy a rock- and holiday-themed concert Dec. 22 by rock opera ensemble

The Wizards of Winter are to perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22 at Croswell Opera House, 129 E. Maumee St., Adrian, Michigan.

The holiday rock opera ensemble features former members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Rainbow and the bands of Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent.

The 12-member ensemble is to perform classical and progressive-influenced rock music woven throughout a theatrical holiday-themed show. It is to offer a diverse array of original material with broad audience appeal.

Terra State flute choir and Northern Ohio Regional Flute Alliance seeking new members in area

FREMONT — The Northern Ohio Regional Flute Alliance and Terra State Community Flute Choir are looking for new members.

High school and college students, along with community members, are welcome.

The Flute Choir meets 6-7:30 p.m. each Wednesday on the campus of Terra State in the Bordner Arts and Technologies Center.
