Saxophonist added to lineup for Jazzin’ Tiffin
Jazz saxophonist and vocalist Mindi Abair is to be the headliner at this year’s sixth Jazzin’ Tiffin Festival in downtown Tiffin. The festival marks the return of Alexander Zonjic, as well as performances by Thornetta Davis and Urban Jazz Coalition.
Up Front Entertainment President/CEO John Patterson, who has produced the Tiffin festival from its inception, said Abair is a big win for the event.
“Mindi is hugely popular with our audiences in the Midwest. She has a sultry, soulful sound, as well as the capability to play rock, R&B, funk. She writes beautiful music and she is a very sweet and lovely young woman. We are very fortunate that we were able to grab a slot on her busy schedule,” Patterson said.
This year’s festival is 1-10 p.m. Sept. 13 at Rotary Park on Frost Parkway.
In addition to Abair, who closes the festival starting at 7:30 p.m., this year’s festival is to feature award-winning flutist Zonjic with special guest blues singer Davis, Urban Jazz Coalition of Columbus and jazz bands from the Tiffin University Pro Music Ensemble and the Heidelberg University Jazz Ensemble.
