Fundraiser to benefit musician with cancer

Over the years, local musician Tim Berry has played numerous benefit concerts for various causes. Now, Berry has been diagnosed with cancer, and his music-making friends are rallying to stage a benefit to help with the expenses that come with the disease.

“He’s fighting the good fight and we all feel, as tough as Tim is, he’s gonna beat it,” said Tony Paulus.

“Party for Tim Berry” is planned May 17 at Tiffin Eagles.

The event opens around 5:30 p.m. with burgers, hot dogs and nachos. A 50/50 drawing and prize raffles are to take place and donations are to be accepted. T-shirts are to be sold for $5. An open mic is to run 8-9:30 p.m., with the reunited Thee Lost Souls hitting the stage at 10. The band features Berry, Mark Swint, Steve Rowe and Paulus.

“We will also have The Rockers, and Mark, Rick and Jack Swint, who is also a cancer survivor. We invite local musicians who have worked with Tim to join us on stage,” Paulus said.
