Hot dogs, hamburgers on menu at Autumnwood

Autumnwood Care Center Auxiliary is having a hot dog and hamburger fundrasier Friday at the center, 670 E. SR 18. The hot dog meal is $2 and the hamburger meal is $3.

Lions Club to host parade

BASCOM – The Bascom Lions Club Memorial Day Parade is set for 2 p.m. Sunday to conclude a day of festivities.

A chicken and pork chop barbecue is to be served 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Evergreen Shelter at Meadowbrook Park. A 50/50 drawing also is planned. Memorial services are to take place at 1:15 p.m. in Sandridge Cemetery, followed by the parade.

Cooper’s Mill trip offered

FREMONT – The Life Scholars program at Terra State Community College is hosting a day trip Wednesday to Cooper’s Mill in Bucyrus.

The apple butter and jelly factory employs original recipes that never use artificial colors, sweeteners or preservatives.

The tour then will continue to Crossroads Original Designs, a family-owned and operated manufacturer of scented candles, reed diffusers, room sprays, framed art and home decor products. After lunch in downtown Wooster, the group will stop in Smithville for a tour of the historic John Mishler Weaving Mill. The tour also will visit Pioneer Village, which includes a log cabin, pottery and blacksmith shops, a LyDo Barn exhibit and tin shop.

The cost is $85 for members and $95 for non-members. It includes all tour fees.

Community band to play

The Fostoria Community Band is to present an outdoor concert at 7:30 p.m. June 8 at Hedges-Boyer Park. The program includes marches, hymns, folk tunes and old-time favorites.

Some of the pieces to be performed include “God of Our Fathers,” “The Black Horse Troop,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “American Riversongs.”

Admission is free. Those attending should bring their own seating.

‘Mattress’ opens in Bucyrus

BUCYRUS – Bucyrus Little Theatre is to stage the musical “Once Upon a Mattress” June 6-8 and 13-15.
