Magician to headline Fremont variety show

FREMONT – The magic of Floyd Collins is to be featured as part of “V is for Variety,” a variety show scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Fremont Community Theatre.

Coordinators Mitch Antesky and Cyndi Hineline said they are excited about the variety show format.

“This is our first attempt at a variety show, and it is especially geared toward a more mature audience,” Hineline said.

Collins has been involved with the Youth Theatre’s Magic Camp the last two years, but he will be focusing his magic toward an adult audience for this show.

A native of northwest Ohio, Collins has been entertaining audiences with magic, mind reading, mystery and comedy since he was 9 years old. As a youngster, he performed in a variety of venues – from middle-school talent shows to family outings. He has performed around Ohio and the country at Renaissance shows, theaters, private clubs, schools and corporate audiences.

Collins also is a creator of magical effects; an author of books on performance, magic and mentalism; a consultant for emerging magicians and mind readers; and a contributor to other effects and books on magic.

In addition to Collins, there will be performances from Fremont residents Denny and Sue Stotz, Hilary Frater, Tim and Cheryl Bolton and Scott Havice; Gibsonburg residents Jeff Buchanan and Mary Jo, Delilah, Cyrus and Michael PJ Foos; Jan Wilcox of Perrysburg; and Brittney Forster of Toledo. Comedy duets, some jazz, trumpeting, scenes and comedy bits also will be seen.

Michael PJ Foos and Scott Havice are to serve as hosts for the evening, which also is to feature a short preview of the upcoming production of “Rex’s Exes,” with MeMe Clark, Karen Langley, Jen Abdoo, Megan Abdoo, Ron Hill and Linda Rich.

Fremont Community Theatre is at 1551 Dickinson St., Fremont. Tickets are $5 for season ticket holders and $10 for all others. Reservations can be made by calling (419) 332-0775.
