Victorian Christmas weekend activities scheduled
Tiffin’s Victorian Christmas Weekend is happening Dec. 6-8 this year with a variety of activities to get the community in the holiday spirit.
The Tiffin Glass Museum, 25 S. Washington St., is to be open 1-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday with refreshments and door prizes.
At 7 p.m. Friday, everyone can gather at Courthouse Square for music and a tree-lighting celebration.
Also at 7, The Ritz Theatre is to host Tiffin University’s “Christmas at The Ritz.” Call (419) 448-8544 for tickets. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children 10 and younger.
Saturday’s festivities begin early in the day. Children can have “Breakfast with St. Nicholas” 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Calvert Elementary School Cafeteria, 357 S. Washington St.
Athletes can do the 5K “Run Like the Dickens” at 9 a.m. Registration starts at 8 a.m. at The Ritz Theatre. The route follows the Sandusky River, and many participants wear festive attire and accessories. Those who prefer can walk instead of running.

From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, a Christmas Extravaganza Benefit is to take place in Elizabeth Schaefer Auditorium, 190 St. Francis Ave. In addition to the large sale, there will be face painting, crafts and visits with Santa for the children.

The Spirit Space Gallery in St. Francis Spirituality Center also is to be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
Meanwhile downtown, the Kiwanis Victorian Christmas Parade is to step off at 11 a.m. Call (419) 447-9005 to enter a unit. Afterward, free “make and take” craft workshops for children in grades K-4 are to be offered 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Liberty Tax Service, the Laird Arcade and the
Tiffin Art Guild, 178 S. Washington St.
The American Civil War Museum of Ohio, 217 S. Washington St., is to have an open house noon-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Seneca County Museum, 28 Clay St., is to be open 1-5 p.m. with refreshments, crafts for children and Christmas music by St. Mary Folk Choir 2-3 p.m. Saturday. The museum also is to be open 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Visitors can tour the museum decorated in a “Christmas Magic” theme. Admission is free.
Art lovers can stop at the Diane Kidd Gallery at TU to view an exhibit by Columbian High School students. The opening reception is planned for 4-5:30 p.m.
Tea and Lessons and Carols at Old Trinity Episcopal Church will NOT be going on this year, as previously advertised, but it is expected to return in 2014.
Sunday, “A Heidelberg Christmas” is to be presented at 3 p.m. at The Ritz Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students. Call (419) 448-8544 for more details.
The Tiffin Historic Trust Holiday House Tour runs 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets can be purchased the day of the tour at the Grammes-Brown House, 172 Jefferson St. The cost is $10.
Outdoor enthusiasts can bundle up for a free luminary walk 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Zimmerman Nature Preserve on East SR 18, next to Autumnwood Care Center.
Or try the walk-through live nativity 6:30-8 p.m. on the St. Francis campus, 182 St. Francis Ave. Donations are to be collected for area homeless.
