School’s ‘Family Reunion’ puts hillbilly clan in comedic turmoil
UPPER SANDUSKY – The Upper Sandusky High School drama department is to present the play, “Virgil’s Family Reunion,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. If the school’s volleyball team plays in the state finals Saturday, that evening’s performance will be moved to Sunday at 7 p.m.
The comedy takes place in summer during the semi-annual Sludge family backyard get-together. As the morning begins, the Yankee neighbor next door threatens to take up a petition to have the Sludge clan evicted from the community. She claims their weed-infested landscape is lowering property values in the neighborhood.
The Sludges ignore the threats until an officer shows up to arrest Harley Wayne Sludge for trampling the neighbor’s perennial garden with his four-wheeler.
The barbecue heats up with lover’s spats, a pending marriage proposal (using visual aids) and an unexpected announcement.
Stacy Barth directs this comedic chronicle of a backwoods family gathering gone hilariously wrong.
Tickets are $7 for general admission seating, available at the door.
