‘Nutcracker’ auditions

set for young dancers

Dancers ages 6-17 years old are invited to audition for the Von Heidecke Chicago Festival Ballet’s 2013 production of “The Nutcracker.” Auditions are to take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at The Ritz Theatre, 30 S. Washington St., Tiffin. There is no cost to audition. Chosen dancers will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition, when future rehearsal and performance schedules would be discussed. “The Nutcracker ” is to be performed Dec. 21 at The Ritz Theatre.

Choreographer Kenneth von Heidecke founded Chicago Festival Ballet Company as a nonprofit organization in 1990, with hopes of developing an extensive repertoire of classical, romantic and neoclassical works. Since then, Chicago Festival Ballet has performed in hundreds of venues around the world, receiving accolades for its commitment to technical excellence and often collaborating with other artistic disciplines as a means of stimulating growth and creativity.

‘Swim Club’ cast announced

BUCYRUS – Bucyrus Little Theatre has chosen the cast of its second 2013/2014 season show, “The Dixie Swim Club.” Written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, the show is to be directed by Jonny Price for performances Nov. 1-17 and 22-24.

Liz Dolan as Sheree Hollinger, Linda Hess as Dinah Grayson, Cindy Light as Lexie Richards, Jackie Cochran as Jeri Neal McFeeley, and Jody Christman as Vernadette Sims are to dramatize the story of five Southern women whose friendships began on their college swim team. The ladies set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. They meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives.

Performances are set for Nov. 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24.
