Blues artists lined up for event
BASCOM – The 18th annual Soul Shine Blues Festival is set for Sept. 28 at Meadowbrook Park Ballroom, Bascom. The doors open at 1 p.m., with blues artists to occupy the stage 2-8 p.m.
Admission is $20, with free admission for children 5 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
The festival is an important fundraiser for First Step in Fostoria, an agency dedicated to working with families who have a variety of obstacles, including domestic violence. Classes regarding fatherhood and relationships, emergency shelter, advocacy services and a 24-hour crisis hotline are a few of the services First Step is able to provide with the help of the community.
Headlining the 2013 festival are guitarists Lonnie Shields and Michael Charles. A Tiffin-based band, Brazin Bull, and Soul Shine Blues Band from Findlay also are on the schedule.
City Barbeque of Findlay is providing barbecue ribs. The menu also includes items such as barbecued chicken, red beans and rice and seafood jambalaya from Main Street Deli, Findlay.
Festival participants also can purchase raffle tickets for a Gibson Les Paul electric guitar, donated by the Guitar Center. Guitar raffle tickets are $20.
The Top Hat Raffle includes more than 30 other raffle items, including a Budweiser electric guitar, gift certificates from many area restaurants, a Pandora bracelet, custom-made corn hole boards, a family session photo shoot, Ohio State memorabilia, massage gift certificates, artwork from area artists and Arbonne products.
