Area woman takes talents to Charleston

Lauren Meyer, a graduate of Clyde High School and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, has become a member of the Charleston Light Opera Guild in West Virginia.

In June, she performed in “The Civil War: An American Musical.” The first two weeks of August, Meyer was cast as a “merry murderess” in the guild’s production of “Chicago.”

“It is such an honor getting the privilege of performing with such a professional-level theater,” Meyer said.

Tiffin audiences may remember her 2010 appearance at The Ritz Theatre in “Swing for Victory.” In a previous interview, Meyer said she took an interest in theater as a student in the summer theater day camps at The Ritz.

Meyer also performed in “Ravenscroft” and “Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar and Grille” last year at Fremont Community Theatre. Now a resident of Charleston, she is sales manager at Express in the Town Center Mall. Meyer and her partner, Stephen Hayward (formerly of Fremont), are active in the theater.

“My significant other and I are both in early rehearsals for ‘Les Miserables’ with the same theater in collaboration with the Clay Center for the Arts here in Charleston. Performances are in early November,” Meyer said.
