Jazz festival returning to Tiffin

Jazzin’ Tiffin 2013 is set for Sept. 14 on Frost Parkway in Tiffin. The headliner for the free concert is saxophonist Eric Marienthal. Also back for the festival fifth year is Alexander Zonjic.

Theresa Sullivan is leading the effort again this year, with assistance from Anne Gase, Mary McCall and Mary Lee Vadalabene. John Patterson is coordinating the national headliners.

“Ralph’s Joy of Living will be hosting our headliners again. Ralph and Julie have been wonderful to work with and take great care to see that our headliners get a warm reception,” Sullivan said.

The Heidelberg University Jazz Ensemble gets things started at 1 p.m., followed by Tiffin University’s ProMusic Ensemble at 2:30 p.m.

Vocalist Morgan Stiegler, an area native and Tiffin University graduate, is to take to the stage at 4 p.m. Zonjic is to play at 5:45 p.m., and Marienthal closes out the festival at 7:30 p.m.

“This year is going to be a little different, in that the School of Opportunity will be providing the majority of the art display,” Sullivan said.

Tiffin Tomorrow is to host the beer and wine tent and sell artists’ CDs. Volunteers from Calvert Catholic Schools are to run the concession stand.

Those who attend may bring lawn chairs.
