Murder, mayhem ‘39 Steps’ away

UPPER SANDUSKY – Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add some Monty Python humor, and you have “The 39 Steps,” a fast-paced whodunit for theater lovers.

The Star Players have planned performances for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at The Star Theatre, 121 W. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky.

The show features more than 150 characters played by four actors (Nathan Haubert, Mandy Riddle Bour, John Garnes and Charles Groth).

The story follows a man with a boring life who meets a woman with an accent who says she’s a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered.

Soon, a mysterious organization called The 39 Steps is hot on the man’s trail in a nationwide manhunt.

“The 39 Steps” was Broadway’s longest running comedy.
