Big Bad Wolf on trial in production at BSA
BELLEVUE – Characters from classic fairy tales are brought together when the Children’s Theatre of Bellevue Society for the Arts presents the courtroom comedy, “The Big Bad Musical” this weekend.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hirt Theatre, 205 Maple St. This musical comedy is meant to appeal to audiences of all ages
with a cast of 55 from northern Ohio.
The jury must decide the outcome of the biggest trial ever in the fairy-tale world. The Big Bad Wolf (Trevor Schaffer) is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by storybook characters who want to get even: Little Red Riding Hood (Taylor Woodruff), her grandmother (Emma Knudsen), the Three Little Pigs (Ethan Washburn, Joshua Higgins and Graeme Schwartz) and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf (Adam Shanaman).
With Sydney Grimm (Alexa Hammer) as the commentator on live Court TV, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest – the Evil Stepmother (Alexis Burns) and the Fairy Godmother (Briana Keyser) – clash in a landmark trial.
The testimony of the wronged characters suggests the wolf deserves severe punishment. His counsel, Evil Stepmother, resents doing pro-bono work on such an obviously futile defense, but Wolf makes a good case for himself.
Was he born a criminal or made one?
The production is directed by Danielle Hayward. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students.
